I am a psychologist specialized in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy. I am strongly committed to the scientific basis of psychology and my practice is informed by the latest research in the field. Further to this, I am regularly undertaking supervision and personal therapy.
I have experience working with a wide range of presentations such as low self-esteem, panic attacks, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, relationship and attachment issues.
During the sessions I will help you explore challenges that are affecting your life. It is an opportunity to bring awareness and clarity to what is bothering you so that you have an understanding of unhelpful negative patterns, behaviors and beliefs.
My attitude to therapy is rooted in the values of Counselling Psychology, such as focusing on empowering an individual, rather than ‘concealing an issue’. Whilst recognizing the necessity of diagnosis in some cases, I see it as a course for treatment, avoiding it as a label that could be put upon a client. Overall goal of the therapy in this case is not only concerned with overcoming the problem, but also seeing it in a wider existential context and turning it into points of personal growth and development.
I aim to work with you through a strong therapeutic alliance and building trust and safety during therapeutic sessions. I value the relational aspect of therapy, and how positive connection between a psychologist and a client can influence the outcome of therapy.
